Hi guys and gals,

I am having some trouble with my freeadvertisingtactics url.

It was created using google's homepage creator. I then got a
free active.ws url to point at it. In the biginning it worked fine.
I added it to my website url rotator and all was going fine.

After a month later now, it won't work in my rotator or on the
T/Es. It Leaves my rotator blank and only the site URL
http://freeadvertisingtactics.active.ws comes up in the T/Es on
screen. You can then click on the url and it will bring you to the
site.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

I Have removed it from my rotator and disabled or paused it on
the T/Es for now.

I would like to get the problem fixed as this is how I promote my
Plan4power link.

Thanks and any info would help.

Hi Fred,

Your page came up fine when I clicked on the link. That means the redirect from active.ws is working.

Now you need to be sure that your TEs allow redirects and also some will not allow rotators. There inlies most of the problems. Be sure to check the TOS at all of your TEs and be sure they will allow the type of linking you are trying to use.

I hope I have been able to help in some small way.

Peace,

Thanks for the info,

Checked all that out already. The problem seems to be mostly
in my website rotator. So I guess I will try another rotator
service and see if that fixes it. Just odd that it was working
when I first started things up.

I also wasn't aware that some T/Es don't allow redirect urls.
Guess I had better start doing some reading on the sites.

Guess one more thing Is whether or not that is the reason that
the url shows up in the middle of the page.

After I removed the url in question out of the rotator, every
thing started working ok again.

I have decided to just list freeadvertising by itself on the t/es from now on.

Thanks again Leon, Much appreciated...

Hi Steven,

I have a rotator that I use sometimes and it is okay, but it takes a little work to set up and then you can only rotate 5 URLs (I think) as a free member. You are welcome to check it out at:

http://www.profitrally.com/rotate.php?user=lhmarketing

Yours may be better based on the number of pages that can be rotated.

Peace,

This seems like a very good place to put this...
I don't know what's going on with my monitor but it's flickering and has coloured lines across the screen in places.
The tech that I talked to says it's either a video card problem (unlikely as it's almost new) or there is a hardware problem ie. monitor is about to expire.
If the monitor does die or if it's taken in for servicing it will be a day or so turnaround time.
Just to let you know.
For now though I'm going to run it until it "dies" because there are some important due dates coming up. Not only with P4P/Bills Ads, but other issues as well. Isn't that always the way?
Sooo... just to let you know in case I'm not active for a day or so.

Hi Lorne,

If you have a monitor that is older, you may have some buttons that you can use to degause the screen. It happens after a period of time that the screen becomes magnetized and the colors don't show correctly or are broken as the electrons hit the inside of the tube.

If you can physically do that, I recommend that you do and then check if it helped.

I know it is a bit expensive, but I think you may be able to acquire a new one cheaper than you can get the old one fixed. There are complete system packages available now for around $500 and they include the computer, keyboard, mouse and monitor (in some cases LCD) and printer. Check around before you take the old monitor in for repair. Also, be sure to check the repair prices of other repair shops if more than one are available in your area.

Good Luck with it. While you still can, you might want to visit a few auction sites and see if there are any good deals on monitors. Mine is old too and I am planning to get a new LCD flat screen to replace it. It will take up less space on my desk.

Peace,

Thanks for that Leon.
The monitor is just over 3 years old... BenQ P992 model.
I will check out the "degause" function (not Swahili... and yet it is) tip.
I'm under warranty for labour for 4 more years. So having the shop check it out isn't a problem.
I have to admit, though, that I've never quite seen anything like this. It just sort of "spasms" every once in a while and then the graphics and everything become out of alignment for a bit. But if I scroll up and down the screen it seems to correct itself for a time. Hmmm. It just might be what you say it is... and I'm not going to repeat that word again.
But I have the feeling it won't last. My luck just may run out at any moment.
I probably will end up getting a new LCD screen anyway as they're very reasonable right now. Easy on the eyes too. But I was hoping to delay that purchase for a few more years until the graphics were of cathode ray quality. But perhaps they already are?
Anyway... I'm still up and running. And I'll sure try to keep going until Thursday... at least.

By Jove Leon... you've done it! And I'm not even English.
The electrons got wrapped around the warp coil or whatever... ahem... and so I turned off the monitor for a few moments. Now it seems to be okay.
For compensation... dunno... I already gave you my Chicken McNuggets.
Anyway, it's always nice to have something back that I may have taken for granted... as is usually the case.
Thanks again, Leon

Hi Lorne,

Great News!! I'm glad you got a reprieve. The word degause is the act of demagnetizing the screen surface of your monitor. When the screen becomes magnetized, the electrons (that are shot toward the screen from the back of the electron tube) become misaligned by the magnetic forces. That may have been "part" of the problem and turning off the power could have minimized the effects of the magnetism, but it probably is short-lived. You may need to go ahead and have the monitor looked at by the shop guys since it is free anyway.

No compensation needed... thank you.

Take care and Peace,

You're right again, Leon.
It was short-lived. It hasn't quit yet though and I'm hoping to stretch it out until the end of the week.
There is a Degauss icon that shows up after I push the Enter button on the monitor. However, I'm a mouser and there are two other icons that I need to jump over to get to it. Once I learn how to do that, I'll give it a try.
Was watching "House", tonight (you mean there's another show on the tube?). So you can tell that I haven't been beating down the doors to solve the problem.
I guess I'm just basically waiting to get a fresh start on this tomorrow morning.
Hope it fires up!

UPDATE:
If at first you don't succeed... read the instructions. Volume MCLX

The manual states that if the monitor is turned off for 15 minutes, minimum, the degauss feature works automatically.
So, I did that (20 minutes). Screen looks better but it did just spasm a moment ago.
I've never had a moments problem with it until now. But it looks like it just could be at the end of its natural life span. Hope it lasts the week!
Thanks Leon.

Lorne,

If you have ever tried the degauss function, you will notice thst the screen will "spasm". There may actually be a problem with your monitor that is causing it to do the degauss on its own.

Good Luck!

Well, Leon you may very well be right... but the way that I'm reading the manual (which is hopefully the right way ) ... the degauss function works automatically every time the monitor is turned off. Not sure if that's the case when it's "sleeping". It goes to sleep every 20 minutes if there isn't any computer activity.
BUT... here's the good news. After getting off to a rather shaky start this morning, there was one final "spasm" around noon and it's been normal ever since. The "problem" seems to have disappeared as mysteriously as it came. BUT... I'm still holding my breath, of course.
I'm just wondering if this whole problem is somehow connected to the way that I've been 'ad-clicking'.
I've been using the... stacking on the taskbar method, as described by Derek; except I don't need to use the Control key. I'm using the latest Explorer, I think it's 7. I just open 10 ads or so at a time and then go back and click them off to oblivion. While doing that, I listen to some downloaded audio programs via my ATI All-In-Wonder player or Windows etc.
When the problem started, the ATI player seemed to freeze on the taskbar and so I just rebooted to get rid of it. It worked, of course, but that's when the problems began.
I guess that's it in a nutshell. There could have been some kind of build-up (of which I know nothing) that just needed to be released over time.
And the lesson is to not overdo it in the future.
Hope that's the case... It sure seems to be back to normal though
Thanks again...

Lorne,

You did everything so I cannot take the credit. Just take care not to let it get you down, okay?

Peace,
