Hi Everyone!
I found a site where you can evaluate the headlines you use. It gives you an idea what you need to do in order to get your emails opened.
I tested a few Headlines and found that:
"It's So Simple. Buy the Book." had a 0.00% EMV rating
"Do You Have a Plan for Power?" had a 28.57% EMV rating
"Do You Have a Power Plan?" had a 33.33% EMV rating.
"Do You Have A Plan?" had a 40% EMV rating.
"Will You Make Money?" had a 50% EMV rating.
"You Will Make Money!" had a 50% EMV rating.
This is a simple tool to use and I highly recommend that you use it from time to time to develope a headline that is catchy and invokes an emotional response. EMV is an acronym for Emotional Marketing Value. It is a rating that is based on the ratio of the emotional trigger words you use compared to the total number of words in the headline.
This does not mean that an ad headline has to have emotional words in it to do what you want it to do. Most people simply want the reader to open the darn email first of all... or to continue reading the webpage or whatever the reason the headline is expected to do. It just gives the reader words that trigger an emotional reaction to the words. Whether that reaction is valid for your ad remains to be seen through testing and tracking your ads.
Give it a try!
And for comparison, most professional copywriters' headlines will have 30%-40% EMV Words in their headlines, while the most gifted copywriters will have 50%-75% EMV words in headlines. The very best ones will have 100% but those are very rare.
You should bookmark the page for later use too.

GOOD LUCK!!

Hi again Veronica,
I did some experimenting with the "The Shockingly Simple..." and found that taking out a couple of words made a creditable difference in the EMV rating.
"Shockingly Simple Plan for Your Journey to Success" = 50.00%
You see, it is based on the ratio of the number of emotional words compared to the total words used.
I like both versions, but I wonder which would be more effective. Testing will tell the tale I suppose.
Peace, |

I did a little "tweaking" also and came up with the following:
Shockingly Simple Blueprint for Your Monetary Success = 71.43 % |

Another Little "tweak" to: Don't Get Mad You Can Still Achieve Success" = 25% EMV
Be Happy, You Can Still Achieve Monetary Success! = 75%
Veronica, I hope you don't mind. I just noticed you have some very good ideas. I just like playing with them to see if they can be improved upon.
One thing I've found is, don't use words with negative connotations, they just drag your score down, i.e. MAD, CRY, LOST etc. People just don't want to face them.
I also added "Monetary", which is what we're all about.
Of course, not being a English Professor, I have no idea (yet) how this would all work out in real life, but I will do a lot of experimenting. |

Hi Walking Eagle,
You have tweaked a few with some success. I know that some of the things we say in our headlines need to grab peoples' attention so that they click the ad to find out what is pulling on their emotions.
It takes all kinds of ad headlines to make a successful campaign. Something that reaches one person may not appeal to another. That is why it is also important to test your headline to see which one gets the best result.
Like in my preveious post... Stop Paying Monthly Fees rated at 75%. I have not seen any great results with that however.
Look at the following ad headline:
Unique Team Concept
Do you think we can improve that one? I wonder what emotions that one stirs that will make people click the ad. Notwithstanding the high EMV, it is of absolutely no use if nobody tests it to see if it will produce results.
I guess I will have to spend more time in that arena and see if I can determine a way to easily test some of these to find out what grabs the prospects the most. I am not into statistical analysis so I will have to be forced into that kind of activity.
Peace, |

Ho, Leon,
You know? My son calls computers "Devil Machines", and once in a while I'm inclined to agree with him. I just spent a 1/2 hour replying to you and just as I submitted, my DSL quit on me and I lost it all.
The "gist" of what I was saying is, You are absolutely right. The head line:
"Unique Team Concept" doesn't "bait my hook" at all.
And the lesson I've learned is: Use the headline evaluator merely as a guide, not a "new internet marketing God". Because, as you say, What appeals to you doesn't necessarally appeal to me.
I sent out 4 ads last night. Two of the high scorers previously posted and the 2 I "tweaked". It's to early to tell yet, perhaps when I get home from work.
Which I have to leave for now.
A quote: "Pity not the man who fails, rather, pity the one who never even tries". Love you all. |

Hi Leon and Walking Eagle,
I will send out some ads tonight, so I'll use
Be Happy, You Can Still Achieve Monetary Success!
and I'll track them. I'll let you know the repsonse (in terms of clicks) I get.
Cheers

Well, wish I could tell you what
works best but I don't test. I just
post. Got two sign ups this week, one
last week. Sometimes go a few weeks with
zip though.
Sometimes I ask where they saw my
link and some have been in my autoresponder
some on safelist, etc.
What I use most? Free
Free leads or Free Downloads
or Retire on $25 or One time $15 and you
will earn income. (bills club on that one)
Anyway...I just love Plan4Power and love
all my new team. Let's get them all!
Everyone needs Plan4Power
Let's Roll!

Hi All,
Well, I haven't topped Leons yet, but I have come up with one that might peak curiosity enough to have an email opened up.
Uniquely Yours = 100%
Now, if I can just come up with some decent sales copy to follow up with.
I'm going to be trying this one for a couple of days and see what happens.
Anyone else is welcome to it also. |

O.K., I got a bit of a laugh out of this one: Free, Unique, Retire.
It drew 166.67% , and it doesn't even make sense. Maybe it's the curiosity factor.
I guess if I saw it in a subject line, I'd probably wonder, "what the heck are they talking about".
I think I'll give it a try, who knows? |

Here is a couple I have had some success with.
Unique Plan To Retire On = 120%
and
Unique Simple Plan for Huge Results = 66.6%
A lot make it to my auto responder, but not to p4p.
At Least I know they work!
Haven't actually gotten any sign-ups with them,
but that is probably related to my follow-up
system.
Hey Leon I think you got me hooked with the
term UNIQUE... lol
