Stop your entire household’s junk mail and plant 5 trees at the same time.
*People are looking for a solution to the crush of junk mail,
but most haven’t heard of a way.
*Stopping junk mail is recognized as one of the top 5 easy ways to go green.
*Feel good that you are fundraising with something socially good.
Our impact is huge. In just over a year, we've stopped 3 million pounds of junk mail and saved/planted 1,000,000 trees. We have over 75,000 happy members and have gotten a ton of press - NY Times, Ellen, Good Morning America to name a few.
It's a great way for people to go green for something they didn’t want anyway.
Remind me about this is a couple of months please. I want to do it, but now
is not a good time for me. I am trying to scrape up all the money I can to be
able to show Phyllis a good time at Disney World the first week of June.
I will do this but not right now... so please remind me, okay?

Hello: This is my first posting on this Forum; hello to all.
Sorry to take a negative note. In regard to junk mail,
If everyone stops sending mail for what they are advertising,
would that realy help our society?
I am certain that 50% of our small businesses would die. These
same businesses are the ones that keep the larger businesses from
price increase. Keeping affordable for much of what we need and to
want enjoy our lives.
Agreed, saving of trees and protection of the planet is very important.
Change that does not help is change that is not good.

Hi Hewitt,
Glad to see you made it here. I get 2-6 offers a day for new credit cards from banks. I sure they won't go out of business. The Greendimes program allows you to choose which pieces of mail you want to skip and which ones you want to stop and they keep you off of most lists.

HI Bizman: If I am not mistaken, I believe I am here because I
followed your link to the program that got me here.
In reference to the JUNK mail thing: We need to understand that the
advertiser is doing all they can to get the word out about their business.
Yes the same bank is asking "YOU" 3 times a week to sign up for
a credit card or something else, and you already have one from them.
Much less the other banks that you do not have business dealing with.
If these businesses stop the marketing that they are doing, because
we are annoied with their marketing efforts: There sales would drop
and the unemployment of the people that work for them would go up
to the point that you will not have any customers to sell your products
to. We all are dependant on each other.
The oil companies believe the price of oil makes them king. One Freezing
cold winter, hundred of people will turn down the thermostat in their
houses - go to a "communal building" to stay warm. The Oil company will
scream that things are bad because NO ONE IS BUYING OIL.
In our system, all problems that are changed will cause another problem
to appear. Those that think things are bad, will find things will get worse.
Those that think things are good, will find that changes may end the good.
I have worked in many businesses where the "Old Timers" say the past
times were better than what is now. And they predict that the future will
not get any better then NOW. Although I must say, "I agree about the
past", the future never seemed to work out as predicted.
Yes Junk Mail is a pain - but just eliminating it is not the answer.

Hi Hewitt...yes you did come to P4P from my link and we are glad to have you. If there is anything I can do for you please PM me. Also, you should try to get on the Skype call and talk with Bruce and the others there.
Now back to the subject. You have a good argument, however junk mail that comes into my mail box addressed to 'Resident' is junk. The advertisers could put their money into other forms of advertising. To me it is the same as telephone calls from sales people using auto dialers. They are just fishing and annoying people. It is the same as SPAM. Everybody complains about SPAM and there are programs that try to block it. If some one wants to see and read the SPAM they can. If they don't they can try to block it. Junk mail is the same thing. People can choose to use the program I recommended or not. If a company is only depending on 3rd class mail advertising, then I don't believe they will be around long.
Just my opinion.

The thought that a sales person - company has to know you
before they sell to you is short sited.
If you sold to only those you know, YOU WOULD STARVE.
In most cases 50 - 70 % of the people you know have no
need for your service. The other 90% of the available sales
community have the same circumstance. (Only 30 to 50%
are interested).
With the above percentages - Only sales to the surprise visitor
is what you can count as success. Any other sale is just par
for the course. For this reason people hold conventions in
strange cities, and functions in out of the way places.
We have to stop taking offence because we are contacted over
and over.
