I'd like to caveat this post by telling you that ordinarily I don't discuss
or promote politics in my business life and very little in my personal life.

However, I am highly into politics and what goes on at the local, state
and national levels.

This US election season (that has started so early) is the most critical one
I've experienced in my voting years, in my opinion. I think it is utterly
important for as many US people who do vote to get themselves informed
and do some free thinking (think for yourselves) as possible. It is just
as important for any who don't vote to get registered and do the same
type of critical thinking before being sure to go to the (non electronic) polls.

It's been heavy on my mind whether to bring this up to you all, but I
care so much about all of our futures and I feel compelled today to bring
this up, most especially on this day that celebrates our good nation's
independence. I received word of this today (see below) and my decision
was made to make mention of this. I won't continue to remind you or
cram anything down your throats past this post. I will discuss thoughts
with anyone who wants to engage in dialogue. The matters are just that
important to me.

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul is from here in Texas. I've been to his home
and met with he and his wife on a couple of occasions. I've been in
some settings where I've asked him some hard hitting questions. I
remain impressed with his answers to this day. I've voted for him
everytime his term has been up for renewal since he's represented my
district. I encourage you to see what is happening for his presidential
campaign online, as you won't see much currently on television news.
I hope that will soon change.

By way of an introduction to him, for those who don't know much about
Dr. Paul, here is a great article. I particularly like the first two paragraphs.
http://www.financialsense.com/editorials/hultberg/2003/0721.html

Here is a wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul

Here is the interesting information I've received from a friend today.

Commemorating Independence Day!
>
>Ron Paul Dollar
>
>
>
>In celebration of The 4th of July, 2007 you are invited, even urged,
>to flex your independence with the Volunteer Network's "secret

>Mint's "Presidential Dollars." WOW! Now the Internet's favorite
>Presidential candidate has his own money to help turbo-charge his shot at the White House.
>

>Impossible, you think? Long shot? Dark horse? Think again. This

>
>Want to stand this Presidential election on its head? Well, guess what?
>As utterly amazing as it may seem, we the people could actually get Ron

>
>
>
>Yes, we all know that politicians are pathological liars. And this
>campaign has an unusually large number of liars. Fortunately, Congressman
>Ron Paul speaks the truth. He speaks the truth about the government, about
>money and about the war. Ron Paul is dedicated to the truth and a
>government as defined by the US Constitution.
>
>
>
>But Truth without action... dies. The great American experiment is already
>dying. You can see signs of it everywhere. The federal empire is

>So the Volunteer Network created a "secret weapon" - the Ron Paul
>Dollar. Available in pure $1 Copper, $20 Silver, and $1000 Gold Ron Paul Dollars.

>Von NotHaus, the fiery "freemarketeer" behind the Ron Paul Dollar,

>All this will be a big surprise to Dr. Paul. As Liberty Dollar's legal

>As von NotHaus explains, "Even though I know and respect Ron Paul for his
>free market philosophy, I did not take his campaign seriously until our

>
>It is time to return our country to the values that made it great. It is
>time for Constitutionalism! Please take action. Join the revolution.

>newspaper/television cover the Ron Paul Revolution. We can free America,
>again. Happy Independence Day 2007!

In closing, I don't expect anyone to donate or link to this site without
first educating yourself about the man I'm most certainly backing. I
just want to let you know how important I believe it is for everyone
to be engaged in the process that will affect so many things that we
hold dear for our business and personal lives in the future.

BTW...Ron Paul's stance on Internet Neutrality is positively in our favor.

The grassroots effort from the public has taken a strong, surprising move
forward in recent months as witnessed by many blogs, forums and
especially You Tube. Learn what you can and be informed. It's important
enough for me to discuss with you something that I ordinarily would leave
out of business. I feel our future as marketers and Americans (and friends abroad)
depends on being very aware over the next year.

Very Interesting Deb,

While I do agree that Not only Republicans are liars but also
some Democrats fall into the category. We the people surly need
to wake up, stand up and be heard.

Will do some research
on Ron Paul.

Thanks for the Post Deb

Thanks Jose.

"Liars" wasn't my word.
I don't really like to use that word for
anyone. However, I think that we are
being systematically deceived by both
sides of the aisle in DC. I believe it's
been going on for quite a long time,
not just recently.

They don't really have to tell us full
out falsehoods. All they have to do
is keep us in constant fear of our
surroundings and each other.

This is why it's so important for
people to "wake up" as you say
and think for themselves. This is
what we try to get people to do
in our online business and hopefully
everyone will begin to do the same
critical thinking about all things of
an important nature.

It is truly very important not to think
that we have no way of making a difference.
If we continue to think that way as many
have felt over the years, it will be true.

It starts with simply being aware.
Thank you for the thanks.

Hey Deb;

I spent quiet a bit of time reading and traversing the
links to different pages thats associated with Ron Paul.
I have heard of him before but didn't investigate.

I will spend more time learning and reading of him.
Basically, I am in agreement with the
"Projected Stance" he is putting forth.
I have, for many many years, talked to
other people about the 10% flat tax rate.

I have served on my city council 2.5 terms,
a total of 5 years, and was a driving force behind
several projects to benefit our community.
Prior to that I headed a community organization
that raised funds and did the actual work to
tear down dilapidated structures in our town.
Also I designed, built and raised the funds to build
a very nice child's park in the inner part of my community.

Community involvement is the key to
anything of value achieving fruitfulness.
By community here, I mean, those of us
who are desirous of change and will discuss with
others the ideal, at the time, way of getting it accomplished.

I will link to his site from my web site.

Below is a couple excerpts I withdrew from
the links I followed that spoke to me.

Thanks

Doug Tidwell

As the renowned Scottish economist, J.R. McCulloch, stated over 150
years ago, "The moment you abandon the cardinal principle of extracting
from all individuals the same proportion of their income or of their
property, you are at sea without a rudder or compass, and there is no
amount of injustice or folly you may not commit."

Our own Thomas Jefferson astutely summed up such reasoning when he
wrote, "The true foundation of republican government is the equal right of
every citizen, in his person and property, and in their management."

The authoritarian state would, within a decade, crumble like the Berlin
Wall. The Darth Vaders of the Potomac would have to relinquish their
black limousines and hightail it out of town.

A quote from the 19th century novelist Victor Hugo:
"Greater than the tread of armies is an idea whose time has come."

But Truth without action... dies.

Thank you Debra,
Ron Paul.... finally someone that has the people's interests at heart and not their own.
For me I am tired of the the politicians only worrying about special interests and getting re-elected, and not focusing the issues at hand.
After researching Ron Paul and learning about who he is and what he believes in and what he is trying to accomplish, it has helped me restore faith that America is not spiraling out of control.

Thank you Doug. I appreciate you investigating
and your preliminary opinion as well as the link.

You're so right about community involvement.
Seems to make lots of good things work.

Robert,

Important times ahead indeed. I can tell you from my personal
observations, Dr. Paul and his wife and family have given a lot
to this country already. I think it would be a major blessing to
the US for us to find the way (Internet technology can do it) to
put him in office.

Thank you for sharing the dollar link with me this morning. I'm
surprised I hadn't heard about it yet. Excellent idea. It's a unique
and fitting way to get funding from the small contributor, which
is the way "campaign financing" should be run.

Hi Debra,

In the last election, I was having a difficult time with making a decision on for
whom I would cast my vote. It came down to the final few weeks before the
election and I finally based my choice on who had the best morals (in my
opinion).

I have always been an advocate of a "flat tax".

I have always been adamantly opposed to taking "God" out of everything.

I think it is time for America to stand up and say, "Enough is Enough!"

I will be calling my congressman and asking him to co-author HR 300
which was introduced by Ron Paul (in January as I understand it).

If Ross Perot had not quit when he did, I would have voted for him. I
hope to start seeing more of Ron Paul and I hope the public has a chance
to see where he stands as well.

I am an independent voter. I vote for the person and not the political
party that is represented.

I will do what I can, but remember, I am a government employee and
cannot say too much. I work in the Executive Branch which makes the
President my boss.

Thank you for bringing this much needed information to our attention.

Peace,

Thanks Leon.

I gotta comment on the flat tax that was mentioned on this
thread a couple of times here.

In one of the recent debates, Ron Paul said that in his first
day in office he'll begin the process of getting rid of the income
tax all together.

I don't believe he's necessarily a backer of a national sales tax.
When I've asked him about it he's told me that we need to quit
spending first, which I can't argue with.

I've worked with Americans for Fair Taxation for a number of years.
(National Sales Tax)
http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer
We have a few Fair Taxers in the Plan4Power Group.

If there has to be a tax....it shouldn't have to be on income.

"The FairTax:

Abolishes the IRS
Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding

Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
Allows American products to compete fairly
Reimburses the tax on purchases of basic necessities
Enables retirees to keep their entire pension
Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck"

As for as your boss Leon, he's from Texas too. I like him.
[Of course even if you're not from Texas, I can still like ya!!!! ]
I think he's a well meaning man and I respect him for being
the President of the United States. The change that is necessary
is not about him or the Republicans or Democrats. It's bigger
than that. I do understand your position as an employee.

I have to keep reminding myself that we still have freedom
of speech, because I tend to just discuss these types of things
in private discussions with people who've come together to do so.

I appreciate the comments. It is helpful and enlightening on such
a very important topic.

Thanks Debra I love a good cause and there
is none better than changing the way things
are being done in Washington.

Very frustrating to see the way the country
is headed and what is accepted and what's not.

Morals have been thrown out the window in America,

The words that come to my mind are "You've got to
stand for something, or you fall for anything"

American's can make a difference and the internet is
the place to do it.

I'll read up more on him. I have room on the highway for
another huge sign, lol

Thanks for the info.

Detsesom here

Ron Paul's record speaks for itself, and to add the fact that the man does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program is amazing to know that aspect of his character.
He also returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
A modern day Frank Serpico I'm sure most would agree.
All p4p members should vote for him, especially when we reach our goal of 4444.

I'm smiling because of how many times I've put a Ron Paul sign
out (during congressional elections) on our highway frontage.

I wanna get a BIG one for this election.

I appreciate you checking into him.
I hope you and Johnny like what you see,
we sure do need a change.

I usually try to stay out of politics......... and, you know there's a B U T coming.....

But, I am so tired of the same ole', same ole'. I am not aligned with the left,
nor the right.....I consider myself somewhere in the
middle..... maybe even part Libertarian.

Ron Paul is sooo right....it's time for a change.

Have you seen this web site? These people are advocating a bi-partisan
ticket where the common, everyday people (like you and me)
decide on the candidates as well as what the issues really are -- the crucial
issues, then important issues in that order. If you want to know more, go to
http://www.unity08.com/.

I'll get off the soapbox, now, as it's so uncharacteristic of me.
