Email Marketing, Please Advise......Can someone please ensure me that this is all I need to protect from being accused of SPAM? I found this in the email marketing section, but could not ask there it is locked........I have a partial genealogy database of a few thousand people and would like to send an email. I have only sent my email address as a way to opt out, but I have heard you are also supposed to add a mailing address, I don't know if this is true or not, I will wait for someone else to jump in and let us know. I know I have never had a spam complaint yet, I usually just send an email first with my info from my yahoo address and it works fine. |

Thanks for looking and posting. Yes, I believe it has to have a physical mailing address. I will be including that to be safe. Any other notes/suggestions/experiences/knowledge anyone?

Okay First I have to admit I don't do strictly email marketing, I only reply to those that have already responded to my capture page or safelist advertising. I hired a company once for my son who is also a Plan4Power member, it was one of those companies where they are supposed send out to their optin list for you and they take all of the spamming responsibility. Poor Debra is still paying for that one even though it was months ago as the plan4power website was the link in there, she is still getting complaints. I learned my lesson and only use my own leads generated from TE's and safelists. I know some folks will still try the double optin lists, but they always send an email first, asking for permission to send them their opportunity without putting any links in there first. I just prefer not to take that chance. So when they reply to my ad or capture page now, I send them this email first telling them who I am and where I got their name and email address from, they know who I am and I sent the email so it takes the heat off of Plan4Power. You may use that introduction, but the people on your list may not have asked for info from Plan4Power. If you have any idea how they got on your list, you may want to add a bit of text similar to this:
(Of course, you will want to change the name and genders, but you are welcome to use it as well.) You may have a varied list of members from all kinds of sources so this may help with avoiding the spam complaints. Be sure to not only place the link to unsubscribe, but also a physical address where they may postal mail an unsubscribe request. Good Luck! |
