Images in Forum PostsOkay Cathy.
I think I see what the problem is. The PostImage hosting site is wanting to
get people to visit their page to see the ads they have for StartLogic. The
"click here to view picture" is embedded with the picture so people will
click to see the picture (usually looking to find a bigger view) but when
they get there, they are seeing the same picture and more ads. The
pictures can actually be larger than 80x80 pixels. They just shouldn't
exceed 2 MB in size.
May I suggest one thing? Use your own webhosting space to store your
pictures. Then all you have to do is use the proper coding to call for
the picture you want to show.
example:
[ img]http://your-domain-name.com/ladyjustineandstudsteravatar.jpg[/img]
should be a link to your picture of the two horses. (There is a space in the
leading [img] tag so that you can see the code to use. You would need to
leave the space out in order for the forum to recognize it and perform the
proper action.)
I will link to a picture at my webhost and show you how I get it to appear
and you could do the same thing. The image below is 200x65 and 12.52
KB in size. Just right-click and then click properties to find out about the
image.
The way that I got the picture to appear is that I clicked the "Img" button
at the top of the text editor where I am writing this post. Then I placed the
location of the image I selected. Then I just clicked the "Img" button again
to close the tags. Try it if you have a picture loaded at your webhost.
Below is what it should look like (there is a space in the first tag in order
for you to be able to see the code).
[ img]http://www.leonsweb.info/img/3D_anim.gif[/img]
Another way would be to type in the location of the image file, highlight it
and then enclose it in the image tags by clicking the "Img" button once.
Edit: I moved to a different server since this post was made
so I had to change the address to the file.
Happy experimenting!

Cathy,
Did you not recently get an online webpage? How about the Unlimited Autoresponder that you purchased? Where were you going to put that? That place is called a webhost. The place where all of your online webpages are stored. You pay a monthly or annual fee to put all of your web sites on the webhost. Hosting is just a way of saying where your stuff stays/resides.
Like you host relatives when they come to visit. You let them stay at your house. Webhosts are the same. They let you put your stuff in their storage area and allow other people to get access to it through your front door... your webpage/website.
So, tell me where you have your website... i.e. http://yoursitename.com
I will help you get to a place where you can do this. Don't let something like a little picture beat you. We can do it together here.
Peace,

lolThe technical stuff is over my head...Way over...
I bought the autoresponder and it was spos to
come with professional installation. I haven't gotten
around to messing with it yet. I still use my sidekicks
autoresponder.
I have the Plan4Power mpo and another account with
Bill where I have my websites.

http://www.mywebbuilder.net/7120376/cathy.htm
See, my knowledge of webhost other than websites
is foreign to me. But this input I think would be great
for all dummy's like me...Sorry guys...Inexperienced like
me.
I've looked for hosting but theres so many, that's about
all I've done, Look...
It won't beat me when I get frustrated I just say I'll
do it later, lol...This old brain only takes so much info
at a time, in small bits and pieces.

Okay Cathy.
If you want me to, I will host your pictures and give you the link to where they are stored. Just send them to me at:
leon.horton@gmail.com and I will upload them to my webspace for you. Then you can just call them from there.
Peace,

thanksThat's sweet Leon but that would
be alot of trouble on your part.
Who is your webhost? I'm going to have
to learn all that stuff one day anyway
and putting the info here would probably
help alot of folks just like me.

Hi Cathy,
Currently I am using StartLogic.com as my hosting company. The annual contract for them expires in March (Ithink). When that time comes, I will be changing to another hosting company. StartLogic is okay, but I want to stop paying for the service. There is a deal available right now that offers a one-time payment of $127 (or something like that) for life and you never have to pay again.
I will check it out further and let everyone know about it so they can use it or not. MPO or BAB is supposed to have some kind of those services if I am not mistaken. I'm still studying that and don't know a lot about them yet.
I told you I would be glad to host your images if you want me to. It is not that big of a problem for me to do that. Your choice.
Peace,

Hi Leon,
I read about how to get pictures here but I don't understand.
Some time ago I put some pictures on EasyShareKodak site
but don't know how to move them from there to forum or
perhaps a personalized site. I do have a website (with nothing
on it) and also a blog site
Help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi Marsha,
If I am not mistaken, you should be able to link to the pictures at the Kodak
site. If not, you can host the pictures at the web host that you have in a file
there.
You will need a piece of software to upload the picture files to your web host
called an FTP program. You can get a free one called Wise-FTP from the link
below.
http://www.download.com/3001-2160_4-10730286.html?tag=dl.1
Once you have that and you know the login info for your website then you
can just go through the FTP software and connect to your server and create
the image folder under the root directory and then upload your pictures to that folder.
After you have the pictures uploaded to the server, you can link to them
there using the example code below where the folder is named "images".
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/images/name-of-image-file.jpg">
Or for this forum... using the [img] tags at the top of the text editor. I
have added a space in the leading [img] tag so you can see the code to
use.
[ img]http://www.yourdomain.com/images/name-of-image-file.jpg[/img]
When you upload a file, you need to name it with something easy to remember
and use lower case letters without spaces. HTML code does not like spaces.
Give this a try or email me the pictures and the access info to your server
and I will be glad to do it for you.
Of course, you can always ask for more instructions if you are having
trouble understanding any of this. I will try to give step by step
instructions if you like or even try to find a video for you to watch.
Peace,

Leon,
I downloaded the FTP but am having trouble here:
just go through the FTP software and connect to your server and create
the image folder under the root directory and then upload your pictures to that folder.
What part of the FTP software do I go through? etc...
Could I use my esl blog to put the image... seems like there's
a place there to store
|
Leon
|
Marsha,
Does your web server allow you to have any storage space? If you are using
a free website, then you won't be able to store any pictures there.
Doesn't the Kodak site allow you to link to pictures on that site?
As far as your esl-marketing blog site is concerned, I don't know if there is
any space available to store files. I will check. If there is, I will find out how
to use it.

Hi Leon,
I've been paying for webhosting but thinking about stopping
since I haven't been able to build anything there
If Kodak lets me link to them, I don't know how --
maybe someone else in P4P has used KodakEasyShare successfully??
Thanks, Leon for checking out esl for me
|
Leon
|
Marsha,
I found the place for the photo album at esl-marketing blogs and I cannot
seem to get it to serve the files to this forum.
I left a space in the leading [img] tag so you could see the link because it
wasn't bringing the image in from the site.
Yes, you can upload images there but it appears that you can only use
them in your blogs from that storage area.
Just send the pictures to me at leonhorton@plan4power.com and I will
upload them to your web space if you will allow me access to your server
with a login and password. I will do it one time and make sure to keep
notes so I can provide you with step by step directions for your server
using the FTP software.
Peace,

Thank you Leon.
I'll have to get back to email pic tomorrow, seems to have frozen out
|
Leon
|
Marsha,
If you use the Plan4Power.com email account to send it, it will allow attaching
a pretty big file. I sent a file to another member that was over 7 MB in size
so you may want to use your Plan4Power email account to send the pictures
to me.
Nite!

Hi Leon,
It actually froze while preparing to mail just one pic!
I've decided to put the project on hold, I might get a different
(cheaper) webhosting and may take you up on your kind
offer at a later date

Sorry to butt in here...I use Photobucket I have one account for 'my' pics and one for 'biz' stuff. It is working great for me for the banners on safelist's to get referalls. I am assuming though if you used it for too much it will overload as photobucket and others of this sort are known to do. But so far so good. One piece of advice though. If you use it both for biz and family pics use 2 different e-mail accounts and addie names when signing on. Not totally sure of those rules. Hope this helps.
Not sure what happened here. LOL I just clicked on posts since last visit and it took me strait to Cathy's problem. Which I just noticed was over a year old. Thats what I get for not paying attention to dates and just going with what is first shown.

That is okay Cyndi.
Nobody is hurt by you offering to help. I wish we had more people who would visit and post their input from time to time.

Hi Bern,
Here is where you need to go for your back office...
http://adassets.com/scroll/
When you get there, you should click the link at the top... "Login".
On the next page, there is a place to put your login information. The site uses ID Numbers so, you should know your ID Number in order to login. Then place your password in the appropriate box and click "Log In".
It clearly states that you should use your Plan4Power email address to retrieve your password or login details as shown below...
"Click Here To Retrieve New ID
or Forgotten Password?
If you have a new Plan4Power
Email address, you may
need to use that address to
retrieve your details. "
If you have your browser set to remember your passwords and login details, then it should place the proper info in the boxes for you.
Here is where to go to advertise using scroller roller...
http://www.scrollerroller.com/advertise.php
Please read the notation at the bottom because it is important. You need to be sure to put your password in the form too.
Be sure to save the links in a place where you can find them later... like in a text file on your desktop.
Good luck with it.
Peace,
|

Just to let you knowHi Leon,
Sorry this has taken so long to get back to you.
Thank you for your help.
I just don't know what the sites were doing with me last mth.
I tried everything and when I would get in the odd time, nothing worked.
Then 'Abracadabra' the Magic door opened and I was there and all was working.
I worked hard that night I can tell you, ask Bill.
Then when I tried a few days later it was closed again, talk about funny business.
I'm still not well enough for work in here, i'm on steroids at the moment and the sweat is flying offa me as I type and I get sooooooooooo tired it's unbeleivable.
But I am trying to keep up with news, so I don't get left behind, my mind gets tired too and I forget what I was doing lol.... it will get better it's just a rare disease where my immune system is too strong and attacks my body especially the liver and kidneys colen thyroid etc.
when i'm done with steroids i'm hoping they will put me on low dosage of immuno suppressant to dampen down my unrully immune system.
be back soon, i am determined.
Bless All
