Seems to be a whole lotta thankin' goin' on...
NO... not playing that one...
It's amazing though, I thanked the sender of
that Forward and she was thanked and on and
on it goes. One of those magical moments that
perhaps only music can achieve.
Anyway... I'm hopelessly lost in that era...
musically. I don't think I needed to tell you that.
But then again, if you're going to be lost someplace,
there are worse places.
This one won't stack up as well as the previous video
- not possible - but it's still a great tune.
And well done.
Yeah... indeed

Here's a song that came to mind
while talking to my neighbor the other day.
Darren is a bit of a backyard mechanic.
He mentioned that while the spring
weather is nice during the day, he
needs a van warmer at night.
That started my YouTube search.
Hmmm... it's interesting how the ol' brain
works at times... surviving the 60's
helps, I s'pose.
Anyway... it's what I call a "Jack Lemmon tune",
you'll either luv it or hate it. No in-between.
So, who's Jack Lemmon?
Well, ya got me there... you'll just have to
look him up in the archives.
But another interesting point about this song
is that the lyrics are so sombre... while the tune
is just the opposite. Much like Simon and Garfunkel's
"I Am A Rock".
Anyway... enough of that... enjoy the tune:

Just in time for the Kentucky Derby
Some race horses staying in a stable...
One of them starts to boast about his track record.
"In the last 15 races, I've won 8 of them!"
Another horse breaks in, "Well in the last 27 races, I've won 19!!!"
"Oh that's good, but in the last 36 races, I've won 28!", says another,
flicking his tail.
At this point, they notice that a greyhound dog has been sitting there listening.
"I don't mean to boast," says the greyhound, "but in my last 90 races, I've won 88 of them!"
The horses are clearly amazed.
"Wow!" says one, after a hushed silence. "A talking dog."
Maybe you've never been to Churchill Downs or know
anything about horses; but perhaps you've heard of Bowling Green:

Maybe R.E.M. will eventually do a cover of this one...
they did a great job on another Everly Brothers tune.
Enjoy |

Seems to be verrry quiet around
here lately...
Of course you guys realize that if
no one else posts any jokes,
you're going to have to put up with
some more oldies...
Meanwhile... it's a nice day here!

No one deserves their own special day more than the Mothers and Grandmothers
of the world. Wherever you are....
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
A poem by Nicholas Gordon...
Before I Was Myself, You Made Me, Me
Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,
Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me
With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,
Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,
And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.
For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.
Peace to you and yours, |

Well... following through with the threat...
Don't know how many other 'House' fans
are out there, but I suspect there's more than
a few.
Anyway... you may have heard "As Tears Go By"
at the end of the last episode.
What's amazing (to me at least) were the number
of comments under the YouTube posting for that
song that said they'd heard it for the first time!
Yikes!
Anyway... since you've likely already checked into that
one, I've hunted down another one of theirs... twice.
The first vid has Mick and the boys playing the role,
back in the day, along with some updated clips:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL_ygXeLbdU&fmt=18
The second is basically just the straight song along
with the lyrics, if you click the (more info) button
in the upper right-hand corner:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfGYSHy1jQs&fmt=18
Sort of interesting that this one hasn't been on 'House'
yet... or if it has been, I missed it.
Crank it up... and enjoy
(You don't know how long they're going to be up there;
quite a few videos are being removed due to copyright complaints) |

OK then...
Question:
What did the singing bee say immediately after
he hit the windshield?
Answer:
"Doo doo doo, lookin' out my back door"
Yeah, Yeah... I know...
you're saying that's ridiculous because everyone
knows that bees can't sing.
Probably true.
But apparently they DO play instrumentals:

The wit of the late Paul Lynde, as it was heard daily on
the TV game show Hollywood Squares…
Peter Marshall: Paul, can you get an elephant drunk?
Lynde: Yes, but he still won't go up to your apartment.
Marshall: In Alice in Wonderland, who kept crying "I'm late, I'm late"?
Lynde: Alice, and her mother is sick about it.
Marshall: According to Tony Randall, "Every woman I've been intimate
with in my life has been ... ." What?
Lynde: Bitterly disappointed.
Marshall: Paul, Snow White: was she a blond or a brunette?
Lynde: Only Walt Disney knows for sure.
Marshall: It is considered in bad taste to discuss two subjects at nudist camps.
One is politics, what is the other?
Lynde: Tape measures.
Marshall: True or false: research indicates that Columbus
liked to wear bloomers and long stockings.
Lynde: It's not easy to sign a crew up for six months.
Marshall: It's well known that small amounts of female hormones
are found in the male body.
Are male hormones ever found in the female body?
Lynde: Occasionally.
Marshall: According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed?
Lynde: Point and laugh.
Marshall: Paul, how many men are on a hockey team?
Lynde: Oh, about half.
Marshall: When you pat a dog on its head, he will wag his tail.
What will a goose do?
Lynde: Make him bark?
Marshall: Elizabeth Taylor calls it "The Big One." What is it?
Lynde: They both look the same to me!
And finally...
Marshall: A current movie is being described as "the story of a love
that changed the world forever." What movie is it?
Lynde: Oh, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. |

Today in history... Mr Mojo Risin' died...
or so they'd have us believe.
Seriously... who knows.
If anyone could've faked it, he would be your guy.
Meanwhile, being mindful of the P4P forum audience,
I tried to pick a song that wasn't quite as hard as
some of 'em, and yet, not overplayed.
Hope you enjoy it:

Now... if you were paying attention,
you would've seen this one coming
a mile away.
I was dared to do this... and that's
never a wise thing to do.
Anyway... I'll just post this one and
listen for the groans:

Noticed on the TV news this morning
that it’s an anniversary of sorts for
the Abbey Road album… by The Beatles,
of course.
That same year, they played what was to
be their final public performance; the fabled,
‘rooftop concert’.
On a side note, one of Edmonton’s sports
columnists was covering the 1994 Winter Olympics
in Lillehammer, Norway, when he happened
upon a lounge band playing one of the
songs from that session, ‘Get Back’.
He was amused by the fact that this Norwegian
band mispronounced JoJo as "yoyo" and that they
did the same to Tucson Arizona, but in
a different way, which became, "Tuk-son Arizona".
As humorous as that may be to our ears,
it’s perfectly understandable that our Norwegian
friends would sing it as they did. J's are Y's etc.
Anyway… that rather longwinded intro sets up this
next one from YouTube.
How time flies… 40 years ago…
Jikes
